For support coordinators and plan managers

Yard maintenance for NDIS participants, anywhere in Canberra and Queanbeyan.

One local gardener, the same person every visit, quiet battery tools, and paperwork you won't have to chase. Talk to Kai directly on 0468 039 979.

Who we can work with

Self-managed and plan-managed participants.

EcoMow is not NDIS registered. We work with self-managed participants and participants who have a plan manager. We can't be paid from NDIA-managed funding.

The price

Within the NDIS price limit, with no travel charge.

  • $59.01 an hour, the NDIS price limit for House or Yard Maintenance, support item 01_019_0120_1_1.
  • $63.42 an hour from 1 December 2026, when the limit rises. Existing participants move to the new rate only once they agree.
  • GST-free under a written service agreement. No travel charge, anywhere in Canberra or Queanbeyan.
What Kai does

The yard work participants can't do themselves.

  • Lawn mowing and edging
  • Hedge trimming and pruning
  • Garden maintenance and garden cleanups
  • Weeding by hand
  • Green waste removal
  • Mulching (spreading it; the mulch itself isn't NDIS funded)
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Clearing and pressure cleaning paths and driveways for safe access

The NDIS pays for the labour, not for plants, mulch, soil, turf or landscaping. Whether a support is reasonable and necessary for a participant is decided through their plan.

Quiet gear, the same person

Battery tools, no fumes, and Kai every time.

Every mower, trimmer and blower EcoMow uses is battery powered and solar charged. They're far quieter than petrol and give off no exhaust fumes, which matters when someone is at home while the work is done, or close to an open window.

It's also the same person every visit. Kai does the work himself, so participants aren't meeting a new face each time.

How a referral works

Three steps, and no sales meeting.

  1. Send the address and what needs doing. By phone, text, email or the form below.
  2. Kai looks up the property and comes back to you, usually the same day and always within one business day, with how many hours it needs and when he can start. He's taking new clients now.
  3. A short service agreement is signed, and the work starts.

If Kai is on a job when you call, you'll get a text back straight away, so you're never left waiting on voicemail.

Paperwork

Paperwork you won't have to chase.

  • Short service agreement

Two pages, plain language. It names the participant, the support and the price, and it continues while the plan funds the support, with a check at each plan review.

  • Invoices after every job

Sent straight to the plan manager, or to a self-managed participant, with the support item number, date, hours and rate. Payment within 7 days.

  • Price changes agreed first

When the NDIS price limit changes, we tell the participant, and the new price applies only once they agree.

Cover and conduct

Insured, and accountable.

  • $5 million public liability insurance

    Certificate available on request.

  • NDIS Code of Conduct

Kai works to the NDIS Code of Conduct, which applies to every NDIS provider, registered or not, and any concern is dealt with directly and quickly.

FAQs

Questions coordinators ask.

Can a plan manager pay EcoMow?

Yes. EcoMow invoices the plan manager directly after each job, with the support item number, the date, the hours and the rate on every invoice. Self-managed participants can pay us the same way.

Can you work with NDIA-managed participants?

Not at the moment. EcoMow is not NDIS registered, and NDIA-managed funding can only be used with registered providers. We work with self-managed participants and participants who have a plan manager.

Does the NDIS pay for gardening?

The NDIS can fund house or yard maintenance that a participant can't do themselves because of their disability. It pays for the labour, not for plants, mulch, soil or landscaping. Whether it is reasonable and necessary for a particular participant is decided through their plan, so check with the participant's support coordinator or plan.

What do you charge?

$59.01 an hour, which is the NDIS price limit for House or Yard Maintenance (01_019_0120_1_1). From 1 December 2026 the limit rises to $63.42, and we only move an existing participant to the new rate once they agree. No travel charge, and the work is GST-free under a written service agreement.

What if a visit needs to be cancelled?

Please give us at least 2 clear business days' notice. A cancellation inside that window may be charged, but only as set out in the signed service agreement, and never if Kai can fill the time with other work. If weather or access stops a visit, there's no charge and we'll offer the next time.

How quickly can you start?

Kai is taking new clients now. Send the address and what needs doing, and he'll look the property up, tell you how many hours it needs and when he can start, usually the same day.
